Ingmar Gorman - MDMA Psychotherapy and Beyond

The lecture is a part of the side events during the Prague Psychedelic Week 2016 where the peak event is the international multidisciplinary conference Beyond Psychedelics 2016. These events are organized in collaboration with the National Institute of Mental Health, Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies and Czech Psychedelic Society.

Ingmar Gorman will speak about a series of topics related to the current research on MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD. This will include the training of MDMA therapists, observations made of the therapeutic process in MDMA assisted psychotherapy (supported by empirical data), a discussion of psychotherapeutic mechanisms of action, and an exploration of challenges that might be faced even when the treatment goes well. Finally, a discussion of MDMA use outside of the clinical setting and how the Psychedelic Education and Continuing Care program is supporting integration.

Ingmar Gorman, M.A. is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at the New School for Social Research. Ingmar formarly served as a research assistant at the Prague Psychiatric Center. He currently conducts psychotherapy research in MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD at the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). He is also the Administrative Director of the Psychedelic Education and Continuing Care Program at the Center for Optimal Living, a setting where clients may speak about their psychedelic experiences and gain psychotherapeutic support.
